Membership to Visual Ancestor is currently free and open to all. But you must be a registered member to enjoy the library's full capabilities and unrestricted collections of ancestral antiquities, not to mention the full set of member resources. Click the following link to be taken to the member registration form.
The following is a list of member resources that are available to you once you register. Membership is currently free, and you are always in control of every aspect of your relationship with us. All of your data is also protected and never shared with anyone.
Members can:
Browse and search through the unrestricted collections of all ancestral antiquities and all data pertaining to them that the library has to offer. We add content frequently as fast as our curators can acqure it. Our methods are professional, and we preserve as many aspects of each photograph as possible including its grouping with other photographs, identities of individuals, and scans of the reverse sides.
Submit high-res scans of your own ancestor's portraiture and related antiquities to be permanently integrated into the library, and therefore preserved forever for current and future generations.
Network with other members based on common interests, common ancestor surnames, and common geographic locations (cities/states) in which your ancestors once have lived. Together with the ability to mail messages to other members, you are able to focus the full power and capability of modern social networking on your search for ancestral antiquities... or your quest to preserve your own.
Focus our efforts to acquire ancestral portrature and other antiquities. Members have the ability to submit to us geographic locations (cities/states) that are of key interest, and we use those submissions to help focus our acquisitions process.
Receive our periodic newsletter as one way to be notified whenever we archive items that may pertain to your ancestors. It also is a means to enjoy featured antiquties and history.
Maintain a public profile for all to see, and choose roles that highlight your interest and expertise in such areas as curating, archiving, genealogy, history, photography, a specialized skill, etc.
Feature your own collections of ancestral antiquties that may be a blessing to someone else. Members can request to be featured in any one of several venues we operate.
Request high-res copies of photographs that interest you. We do all we can to protect the materials over which we are a steward against mass-scale copying. This means you are generally unable to right-click and download in whole the high-quality photograph you are viewing -- but members can always request a high-res archive-quality copy and one will be given.
Sell content, if you are a retailer or a dealer, to other members who may have keen interest in the ultra-specific details about your items of ancestral antiquities.
We always welcome ideas, so if there are resources not listed here that you would like to see us add, please let us know.
