Licensing

Licensing governs how digital assets you upload to Visual Ancestor can be used by others. If a photograph, postcard, or other item is truely in the Public Domain, there is not much you can do to restrict wide use of that content, even if you superficially alter its appearence. Its licensing would fall under "Public Domain Standard (PDS)." However, if you own the copyright to items you upload, you have the freedom to choose a license that respects your ownership and how you would like your items to be or not to be used.
